Tempered glass (9H hardness) offers superior drop protection and a more natural typing feel. Film protectors are thinner and more flexible but less impact-resistant.

Both materials reliably protect against scratches, but differ significantly in their protection profile:

• Tempered glass (e.g. AirGlass): 9H hardness absorbs and disperses impact energy across a wider area on drops. The glass material provides a natural, screen-like typing feel. Ideal for anyone who occasionally drops their Pixel 9a.
• Polymer film (e.g. HD-Clear): Extremely thin and nearly invisible. Offers excellent everyday scratch resistance, but is less impact-absorbing on hard drops compared to glass. Advantage: its ultra-slim profile barely changes the look and feel of the device.

For everyday mixed use, a glass screen protector is the recommended choice. If you prefer an ultra-slim profile and mainly want scratch protection, a high-quality polymer film is a solid option.

Clean the display thoroughly, apply in a dust-free environment, and peel the protector on slowly from one edge. Smooth out any remaining air bubbles with a card.

A bubble-free application is straightforward with a little preparation. Here is the best approach:

• Clean the surface: Wipe the display with a clean microfibre cloth to remove dust, grease, and fingerprints. For stubborn dirt, a standard alcohol cleaning wipe works well.
• Dust-free environment: Choose the least dusty room available – a slightly steamy bathroom works well, as humidity keeps dust particles settled.
• Position before applying: Hold the screen protector over the display to check alignment before peeling off the adhesive backing.
• Smooth out bubbles: After applying, use a microfibre cloth or a squeegee card to push from the centre outwards and remove trapped air.
• Patience with residual bubbles: With flexible film protectors, small remaining bubbles often disappear on their own within 24–72 hours of normal device use.

We recommend the BROTECT AirGlass screen protector (Display+Camera) for the Google Pixel 9a – ultra-thin, lightweight, and 9H hardness rated.

The BROTECT AirGlass screen protector is the top pick for the Google Pixel 9a (Display+Camera). AirGlass technology is twice as thin and light as conventional tempered glass, yet delivers the same 9H scratch resistance.

• 9H hardness: Reliably protects against keys, coins, and other hard objects.
• Oleophobic coating: Fingerprints and grease wipe off cleanly without residue.
• Ultra-thin material: Preserves the original touchscreen sensitivity completely.
• Made in Germany: Precision laser-cut for a perfect fit, including the camera lens.

Yes, most screen protectors for the Pixel 9a are case-friendly and leave enough of a border so standard cases can be fitted without any issues.

The Google Pixel 9a has a flat display with no curved edges, which makes combining screen protectors with cases much easier. Here is what to keep in mind:

• Glass protectors (e.g. AirGlass): Precision-cut for the flat display area, leaving a small perimeter border free. This border ensures cases with a raised lip (bumper cases) do not lift the protector at the edges.
• Full-cover film protectors: Extend right to the display edge for maximum coverage. With very tight-fitting cases, there can occasionally be minor edge lifting.
• Recommendation: The BROTECT AirGlass screen protector for the Pixel 9a is specifically designed to work with standard protective cases. Tip: fit the case shortly after applying the protector so the lateral pressure helps the edges bond securely.

Yes, privacy screen protectors like BROTECT Privacy or upscreen Spy Shield block side-angle viewing from about 60° to keep your personal data private in public.

Privacy screen protectors for the Google Pixel 9a use micro-louvre technology: tiny vertical slats within the film darken the screen for anyone viewing from the side at an angle of approximately 60° or more. From directly in front, the display remains clear and fully readable for you.

• Privacy protection: Shields sensitive content – emails, banking apps, messages – from prying eyes on public transport or in the office.
• Blue light filter: Additionally reduces blue light emissions by approximately 35–60%, easing eye strain during extended screen time.
• Scratch resistance: Also provides reliable protection against everyday scratches.
• Easy installation: Self-adhesive silicone layer for bubble-free application and residue-free removal.

If privacy is not a priority and you mainly want anti-glare, consider a matte glass protector like BROTECT AirGlass Matte as an alternative.

No, touch input works normally.

The surface is designed so that touch inputs remain precise. Swiping and tapping feel natural.

They are made of a layered screen film.

The material is a flexible protective film with an integrated louver structure. The surface is smooth and designed for everyday use.

They focus on privacy instead of impact protection.

Glass protectors are rigid and offer better drop protection. BROTECT Privacy Sichtschutz-Folien are flexible and reduce side visibility, placing them clearly in the privacy film category.

They protect the screen from side views.

BROTECT Privacy Sichtschutz-Folien are special screen protectors that make content visible only from the front. Side views are strongly reduced while the display stays clear when viewed straight on.
